Photos

Varsity Cheerleaders - A1

I thing the lighting of the photo was very good. The angling of the photo is a bit weird but i can see it working for the photo. I think this photo goes very well with the story.
I see rule of thirds and some lines
The cheerleaders where the main subject.
It was properly exposed
I see depth of field

Rider of her life - B1

I liked how they stopped the movement of the horse. And they also got the dust flying behind. The lighting could be slightly better because the face of the girl is a bit dark
I see lines
The horse/rider is the subject
It was properly exposed
Shadows

Yo-Yo - B7

I like the lighting ((even though i cant see much because it is black and white)) of both of the photos. I like how they were able to stop the yoyo in action.
I see some lines
The man was the main subject
Properly Exposed
Shadows

On the beam - A8

I like how they were able to stop the subject before she landed on the beam. The lighting is amazing.
I see lines and slight rule of thirds
The girl was the subject
Properly Exposed
Depth of field

Love is Love - B8

I find this photo very empowering for the movement. I like the lighting of the photo.
I don't see any elements
The couple was the subject
Properly Exposed
Depth Of Field

Favorite Photo - In the crowd - A7
I find the mask funny because of the situation
Rule of thirds

My least photo - Close Connection - B1
The photo is very cliche and it was obviously staged.
maybe Rule of Thirds?

I would like to be the photographer for the yoyo story because i find it cool to stop something so fast in a photo.

If i had to rate the photos in this issue it would be a 9/10. I don't like the drawings. They look like a 7-year-old drew them ((sorry for being so critical)) and i didn't like the staged photos like the horse one. Everything else was great

Photo Manipulation and Ethics

A. Be careful about what you edit. And if you edit something without disclosure you could face extreme consequences. Most photos will have been edited. And all of them are changes to the actual image.
B. They have strict guidelines on how to take photos and editing. The Charlotte Observer’s photo policy states, “No colors will be altered from the original scene photographed”
C. I believe being able to crop an image should be the only correction that is 100% acceptable. Correcting the brightness and such is ok but i don't think i should be use often. If they want properly colorized photos, they should make sure they do that in the camera first.
D. I think the most unethical type of manipulation is actually removing or adding something on an image. I think its bad because you're actually changing the pixels of the photo. You loss sense of the original photo if you do that.
E. I think changing the coloring dramatically is what i think is the least unethical. I don't this is that bad of a change but you do loss what the original photo is. If you set the photo as a colored photo but then change it to a black and white photo it's not the same photo anymore.

Photo Promp #2

Hot is the opposite of cold so I chose to take a photo of a fire alarm
This is an electrical tube connecting to a florescent light
I couldn't find a lot of purple here at bowie ((mainly because everything is pretty much red)) but i found some grape soda.

LONG ANSWER RESPONCE

The Corps is involved in approving the pipeline because it s manages the Missouri River and its system of hydroelectric dams, which is owned by the federal government. Donald trump signed an executive order telling the Corps to quickly reconsider Darcy’s decision. The project is 3.8 billion dollars. The Standing Rock Sioux tribe are going to challenge it because they fear the water will pollute its drinking water. The Standing Rock Sioux next step is to urge "emergency action." I think that if the pipeline will help our country and not pollute, then it should be completed. And I can't think of any other alternatives

The Senate 4 bill boosts penalties against offending local governments and to extend its requirements to university police departments. The bill seeks to dismantle policies that prohibit or discourage police, jail personnel and other officials from inquiring about the immigration status of anybody who has been arrested or detained. I think it will cause a rise in the police force. I have no opinion of the situation. If the policy actually affects me then yea I would look more into it. But at the moment, I don't have an opinion
